Dr Fred Hersch is the Technology Programme Lead for the Unit’s activities. He works closely with the Research Teams to design and implement solutions to realise the ambitious vision of the Unit. Fred is trained in both Information Technology (BSc, Business Information Technology at UNSW) and medicine and public health (MBBS, MPH, Sydney Medical School). He is passionate about harnessing technology to improve access to affordable quality healthcare, especially the prevention and management of non-communicable diseases in resource poor settings.

Fred has been working at the intersection of technology and healthcare for nearly 20 years and is more excited today than ever before of the potential of technology to solve real problems and drive improvements in health.
