Professor Hussain is the Director General, Medical Education of the Directorate General of Health Services. Prof Hussain was previously the additional director general (Planning and Development) of Directorate General of Health Services. His areas of interest are Paediatric Ophthalmology and Public Health.

He is a Fellow of the Royal Colleges of Physicians and Surgeons, Glasgow and has received the ‘Outstanding service in prevention of blindness’ awarded by Asia Pacific Academy Ophthalmology (APAO) and ‘IAPB Eye Health Hero Award’ by the International Agency for Prevention of Blindness.
