Sairaj Paadukana is enrolled for a Ph.D. programme in Deakin University, Australia through Madras Diabetes Research Foundation (MDRF), Chennai, India under the Deakin – India Research Initiative.

A Professional Biology Teacher with over 10 years of teaching experience in various prestigious educational institutions within Kerala and Karnataka in India, Sairaj is a self-motivated researcher who has research experience from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT)-Chennai and MDRF-Chennai, India prior to his enrolment in Deakin University, Australia. With technical expertise in Instrumentation, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology and Plant Biotechnology Techniques along with Biochemical Engineering, Nanotechnology & Computational Skills, Sairaj holds a M.Sc. Bioscience Specialized in Biotechnology from Sri Sathya Sai University, Andhra Pradesh, India and also a B.Ed. in Natural Science from University of Calicut, Kerala, India.

Sairaj is a researcher in the department of Research Operations and Diabetes Complications at MDRF, Chennai, India. He is highly interested in Epidemiological research because, currently India is passing through an epidemiological transition due to rapid urbanization coupled with economic growth and as a result, India is now on rampage with the Cardiometabolic disorders representing a cluster of interrelated risk factors, primarily elevated fasting blood sugar, hypertension, obesity and dyslipidemia. He strongly believes that an extensive research data set is needed to streamline and study the Trends and Prevalence in Cardiometabolic Risk Factors which is critical to forecasting population-level burden and guiding prevention efforts. He envisions that this research work will spearhead the future diagnosis and prognosis of the Non-Communicable Diseases for a better and healthier society.
