Catherine Vincy

Program: PhD

A doctoral candidate at the School of Exercise and Nutrition Sciences, Deakin University, Australia, and a Research Fellow at the Madras Diabetes Research Foundation, Chennai, India. With a strong passion for expanding my knowledge in Nutrition and Dietetics, I am eager to explore and master the intricate aspects of human physiology and metabolism. Although new to the field, my enthusiasm and dedication drive my ambition to develop a deeper understanding of these critical areas.

I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Home Science with a specialization in Nutrition, Food Service Management, and Dietetics from Women’s Christian College, Chennai, India. I further pursued a Master’s degree in Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics from PSG College of Arts and Science, Coimbatore, India.

Currently, my PhD research focuses on evaluating the effectiveness of mobile health technology in managing central obesity among Asian Indians. This research endeavour will provide valuable insights and enhance my expertise in the intersection of technology, nutrition, and health, which aligns with my broader career aspirations in this domain.

MDRF is designated as ICMR Centre for Advanced Research on diabetes and, a WHO collaborating Centre for Non-Communicable Disease, Prevention and Control. The foundation performs state-of-the-art clinical and biochemical techniques and computing skills making it one of the most advanced centers for diabetes research in Asia.
