Prof Tai is a leading figure in the development of clinical practice guidelines in Singapore. He chaired the Singapore Ministry of Health Clinical Practice Guideline committee for Lipid management, and led adaptation of the NCEP ATP III function for assessment of CHD risk in Singapore. He carried out the work that led to development of Asian specific thresholds for central obesity, which are adopted by NHLBI and WHO. Prof Tai also leads a range of work relating to strategy for prevention, early detection and better treatment of diabetes in Singapore.
